Alex Florschutz approached me to design her book cover.

"Mad Enough to Love You: Desire is a slow burn through forbidden longing, magnetic lust, and the quiet devastation of getting too close to what you can't keep. Set against the golden light of Bali's shifting seasons, this debut work of fiction is as restrained as it is raw."

The design features hand-drawn illustrations which depict key aspects of the story. The central focus is the villa building at the top, which also serves as a subtle representation of the main female character. This is juxtaposed against the motorbike at the bottom, symbolising the male character. Tropical foliage and florals connect directly to the Bali location, intertwining with small stars and hearts to visually represent the chemistry between the two leads and the magic of Bali. Further abstract depictions, such as rice fields, woven textures, and a small crown, nod to the location, decor and specific plot points. 

The client was specific with the bold colour palette, conveying themes of forbidden love, desire and femininity with a pop of tropical vibrance.
